Super Bowl Outdoes Black Friday as Best time to buy a TV – Kyle Samelson

The online coupon site fatwallet.com holds an annual TV buyer survey and it determined that during the week leading up to the Super Bowl more people will buy TV’s than during Black Friday. The survey conducted by fatwallet was from 1,000 millennials and of the respondents who were planning on purchasing a TV 26 percent were planning on making a TV purchase in the week leading up to the Super Bowl and 18 percent were going to during Black Friday. The survey also indicated that 84 percent of respondents wanted a television between 40 and 70 inches and half of the total respondents  were planning on spending $500 or more. “Last year, a Consumer Electronics Association study revealed 22 percent of Americans with HD sets purchased the TV specifically to watch the NFL’s biggest game of the year.” I think this article is important because it shows an example how the Super Bowl can affect sales and the economy based on its popularity and viewership.
