For this first time since it’s original release in 1967, Super Bowl I will finally be re-broadcast over the NFL Network. The official tape of the game has been either “Lost or erased” since it’s initial airing. After their process of searching months for all the official plays, all the 145 snaps were found and stitched together. In addition, the footage was remastered and color corrected.
After all these years and changes to the sport, it will be interesting to see the game being played without all of the additions that have been added for our enjoyment over the past 50 years. Sounds from Vince Lombardi himself and discussions on how the videos were found and spliced together will also be included with the broadcast.
