KU Football Team Trying New Technology to Spot Concussions, Boost National Research – Lucas Richards

Currently, concussions is one of the biggest issues facing sports and Kansas University is doing their best to combat that. They are going to start using impact-sensing mouthguards.  This article caught my eye because it was the first time I had heard about someone putting the technology into the mouthguards. They will be one of the first colleges to use this technology. Another interesting aspect of this is that the mouthguards sell for almost $200 apiece. Its interesting to see a lesser football school put so much cash into their player’s safety. About 20 to 25 schools will also join KU in wearing the Vector MouthGuards. This new technology is a great step in the right direction for concussion diagnosis and protection.
