Head injuries have been a large focus of football over the past decade. Head Health Network’s helmets have been developed to help prevent head injuries in football. A pressure-mapping smart fabric is put inside of the helmets, and measure each hit taken in real time. The smart fabric will be able to measure memory, reaction time, cognitive ability, and other mental functions. There is an initial test for the athlete to measure mental functions, memory, reaction time, and cognitive ability, and then it will be able to determine whether the athlete needs to be evaluated. If the athlete needs to be evaluated, the team will be notified on a cell phone. This is a huge advance for football and head injuries. There has been a large decline in youth football in the past decade. Even though the NFL and NCAA have introduced new rules to help prevent head injuries, the Head Health Network’s helmet might save youth football by making the players head health the most important.
