theScore is Ahead of the Curve with eSports Coverage – Laurelle Holley

While some may question whether or not eSports should actually be considered a sport, there is a market of 71 million people worldwide and mobile app, theScore is going to take advantage of this new market. This app provides news and information for over 20 leagues, 800 teams, and 15,000 athletes and eSports is the newest addition. eSports fans will be able to get live news and scores on games including: Call of Duty, League of Legends and Starcraft II. Having the capabilities to track eSports live through the app may be the next step needed to increase the popularity and relevance of eSports as a modern day sport. Only time can tell, but they are doing a good job capitalizing off of demand and the possibility of future sponsorships.
