Sometimes the water cooler talk on that first Monday after the Super Bowl is more about the commercials than the actual game. NBC has shown that they clearly understand how important these commercials are to viewers. This year, NBC Sports Digital will launch a Tumblr page that will replay each commercial immediately after it airs live, on February 1, 2015. According to the Tumblr page,”Tumblr lets you effortlessly share anything Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos from your browser, phone, desktop, email or wherever you happen to be.” (https://www.tumblr.com/about) NBC sports is also streaming the game live to tablets and other media devices however they claim the ads may be different on the streaming content than the live TV version. This is a creative way for fans to not only watch their favorite commercials again, but also for those who are streaming the game to be able to view the commercials for the first time. I think this shows the awareness of NBC Sport as it relates to popular culture. They are reaching more fans with more content and really, that is all any fan wants from them. I am not familiar personally with Tumblr but I can see the appeal. Visitors of the site can watch these commercials and then share comments with their friends. What a great way to please the sponsors of the Super Bowl by gaining even more viewers.
