NFL to get $4M in Super Bowl ticket tax rebates – Andrew Meyer

This year, as part of an agreement with the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority, the NFL will get refunded over four million dollars in sales taxes associated with ticket sales for the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. Tom Sadler, CEO of the Authority, said that the rebate was a key determining factor during the bidding process for the February 1st contest held in The University of Phoenix Stadium, and will go towards the over sixty million dollars generated by ticket sales for the event. It is similar to what was done in 2008 when the Super Bowl was last in Arizona, however the amount is a nearly sixty percent increase from the roughly two point four million at the time. The rebated money would have gone to stadium debt, promoting the Cactus League, and internal operations, while local and state governments will not be effected by the move.
