Ahead of the World Cup going on now across Brazil FIFA decided that they would be implementing goal line technology. What this does is allows officials of a match to review a goal if they are unsure about whether it fully crossed the goal line or not. How it works it that it uses 14 cameras, seven for each net, placed across the field and pointing at the nets which can track the ball movement across each goal line. This is something that has been talked about by many for a long time and I am glad to see that it is finally being implemented at the largest soccer tournament in the world. If it proves to be successful here I think we will start to see different leagues across the nation implement it in league play. I am glad to see this finally being used in professional soccer, even though it is not used everyday it helps officials who many have missed a shot of goal to see if a ball fully crossed the line into the net.
